Understanding the Landscape

This workshop deals with the problems Plein Air artists face during the beginning, middle, and end stages of a painting. Daily short lecture and discussion - how to use materials, basic drawing, color choices, good composition— followed by a demonstration, time to paint the landscape (with each student receiving individual guidance) followed by a critique, will help students gain a greater confidence in painting in the plein air.

Paul Keysar is an oil painter with a passion for the land and man’s dependence upon it, is known for his classic, representational landscapes and still life renditions of natural and organic subjects. He received formal art instruction from the Art League, Alexandria, Virginia, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and Maryland artist Carolyn Egeli. He has had numerous shows and won awards in several states. His work is in private and corporate collections across the United States. He is a member the Charlotte ARTery and is involved in numerous local art organizations. He recently received a Regional Artists Project Grant through the Arts & Science Council of Mecklenburg County. He maintains a studio in Charlotte.
